Hello Meg, Are you familiar with any Cairns migrating to N. Ireland? I have a connection
to N. Ireland only then the branch hits a wall, although family lore is that they came
from Scotland. this is all I know. K' regards, Jeff Airth

Subject: [CAIRNS] Cairns death, Wigtownshire
A hard-working lady near Stranraer, Wigtownshire is posting the
Wigtownshire Free Press notices for B, M and Ds. It was a weekly
newspaper printed in Stranraer covering Wigtownshire and nearby
counties. There was a CAIRNs listed yesterday. No other information is
in the listing, I snipped only this one for posting here :
CAIRNS, Male infant - D16/1/1848 - Here, in George Street, on the 16th
inst., the infant son of Mr David Cairns, mason.
The IGI doesn't specifically help identify this lad, but it shows only
one couple having children in Stranraer, David CAIRNS & Helen McMEIKAN.
They have 3 children in the IGI :
1. JEAN CAIRNS - Birth: 14 JAN 1846 Stranraer, Wigtown, Scotland
2. JAMES CAIRNS - Birth: 11 NOV 1841 Stranraer, Wigtown, Scotland
3. ROBERT DONALD CAIRNS - Birth: 23 OCT 1843 Stranraer, Wigtown,
Scotland
