My CAIRNS/KEARNS were Irish catholics from somewhere (anybody know?) in
Ireland. They were Dominic and Ann CAIRNS. Her maiden name appears to be
SHERN. They had at least 3 sons that I have found so far: John, Bernard
(Barney), and Patrick. They came to Canada in 1846 and lived in Norfolk
County, Ontario.
Dominic appears to have died by 1871 as Ann is listed on the census as a
widow. She passed away in the 1870s. Between the 3 sons they had 28
children. Odd as it may seem, I haven't run into another descendant of
Dominic and Ann

Sure, the Cairns list is still active. My Cairns family also spelled
their
name Careins and Cairnes. They arrived from Lurgan, Ireland around
1774
and
settled in Harford County, MD. Why don't you tell us about your
Careins
family?
