Did James reside in Renfrew, Scotland before 1885? He lived in Irvine,

in 1885 the year William migrated to America and settled in Wisconsin.
Any
information on James would be a blessing. Thanks you. John Cairns,

Hi John,
The 1881 census indicates that the James, father of William Cairns who
said he was 16 at that time (b abt. 1865), was born in Renfrew,
Scotland, not Ireland. So, if you know that your James was born in
Ireland, this may not be your family. If the information you are
confident about is mostly about William and his family, then the names
of William's children may well be very pertinent even though he went to
America. My gt.-grandfather Cairns followed the Scottish naming
sequence, precisely, even after he and his family emigrated to Canada.
