I found this message of interest In researching my McIntyre family history , I find that
one of my McIntyre McIntyre relatives married a Andrew Cairns. This Andrew was borm in
Scotland about 1850. his father also named Andrew, was born in Ireland about 1815,
and his grandfather was Phillip ( know nothing of him )
My Andrew Cairns , had a brother , James . who was born in Lanarkshire , Scotland about
1842. This James apparently immigrated to the states about1873, with other family members.
Some of them settled in Washington Co. Pa, where my Andrew lived and I have found several
of his siblings in that area., but not james. Your memtion of a James in the Summit Co.
Ohio 1930 Census may be a connection.
Anyway, Found it rather of interest, My Email address is

Message Board Post:
Have ran into many dead ends researching this which is the line of my paternal
grandmother, Agnes Elizabeth Kearns. (Sibling names include Ann, Edward, James Jr.,
Philip)
My great uncle was Philip Cairns who served in the First World War, possibly as a cook.
He has siblings that went by Kearns. His mother Mary (Cavinough?) and father James used
the spelling Kerns.James Kerns can be found in the Summit Co. OH 1930 stating he was from
Scotland. Family lore has it that there were two sides of the family Kerns with a K and
Cairns with a C. The correct spelling apparently was a family joke.
Would welcome hearing from any familiar with this line.
