Hi,
All four Andrew Cairns entries that come up when clicking on that link are
"mine"! The marriage and the burial are my 3x great grandfather, and the
other two are his son and his grandson. I did locate other sources that
clarify who's who (but would have to search a bit to explain it - it was a
long time ago that I found them.)
All for now.

Hi Enid
To answer your question re my surname, Burton. As far as I know Bob & I
have no connections to Buckinghamshire, but we haven't managed to get very
far with that side of our research as we have been so intent on the Cairns
side of his family. If I do come across any, I will of course let you know.
I found the marriage off Andrew Cairns to Barbara Spence on Find my Past
but it was just a transcription and no ages were shown. I also found his
Burial Date of 6 June 1829 but again no age shown.
I entered Lowick into Google and came up with this
https://www.familysearch.org/wiki/en/Lowick,_Northumberland_Genealogy I
don't know if you have seen this and explored it before, but thought it
might be worth a try.
I have looked on Family
Search.Org and there are some Andrews on there, but
as I don't have the parents names, I don't know if they are yours. This is
the link for you to have a look:-

Apart from these suggestions, unfortunately, I can't think of anywhere else
to try. You could contact the local churches to see if they have a baptism
for him, but don't know how successful that would be.
Sorry not to be more helpful and I do hope you managed to find some
information to help in your research. I will of course, let you know if I
come across him.
Good luck
Maureen

Hi Maureen,
Thank you for offering to check on my Cairns. My great great great
grandfather was Andrew Cairns. I don't know when he was born, but I have
found a marriage record which states that he married Barbara Spence of
Hutton in Scotland on 1 January 1799. He was from the parish of Lowick
(in
Northumberland), but the marriage took place at a place called Broad
Meadows (location unknown to me). They had 10 children altogether, and
they are all buried in the churchyard at Lowick. Andrew died in 1829 and
was also buried at Lowick, which is within about 5 miles of the Scottish
border. I have no other information about Andrew, except that he was a
grocer.
By the way, I am curious about your surname - does your family happen to
have any connections with Buckinghamshire? That's where my grandmother's
Burton family came from.
Thanks again for your offer. Don't spend a lot of time on it - but maybe
Andrew will pop up somewhere when you are looking for someone else!

Good morning Enid
Thank you very much for your reply even though you couldn't help with my
William, it was very nice of you to take the time.
I have been researching this man for about 20 years now and although I
have
most of the details of his life, I simply have not found any details of
his
birth or his parents. In all of the records I have found, it simply states
he was born in Aberdeen. I have even paid for research to be done, to no
avail. I only discovered his (???) date of birth this week, when the
Military Records became available, free of charge, on Find my Past.
I know that not all births were registered, & he was only 14 and half when
he enlisted in Royal Artillery at Woolwich. I have loads of questions
about
how did he get to Woolwich, did he have a relative in London to help him?
I
have absolutely no idea where to look next, so he will have to go on the
back burner for a while.
If you let me know the details of your Cairns, I can look on Find my Past
for you, to see if I can find them, that's if you want to of course.
In the meantime, Good Luck with your research and I sincerely hope we both
find who & what we are looking for.
Kind regards
Maureen
