Disguising of Irish origins was common enough. My family from Co Galway claimed to be from
London. Perhaps they migrated twice, for they came from Co Galway & ended up in
Belfast (now Port Fairy), Australia. A Y chromosome DNA test through the Cain DNA project
at
www.familytreedna.com/public/Cain-Caine confirms that I have DNA matches amongst the
Keanes of Co Galway. We are not Manx. Nor are we the well-known O'Kane clan of Ulster.
Cain/Kane/Keane folks from Co Galway are a separate clan, with a DNA signature unlike the
O'Kanes of Ulster or the Cains of Man.
