John Cain / Kane b. 1761 and his brother Barnabas b. 1762 were both from Tryon Cty NY and
joined the King's Royal Regiment of New York [KRRNY] and served as Private soldiers
until disbanded in 1783 . As a Loyalist John Cain / Kane [ Kane was first spelling used
but in second generation it morphs into Cain] received part Lot 13 [100 acres] he shared
with Sergeant William McLeod on Glen Road Charlottenburg Glengarry County Upper Canada
[Ontario -- McNiff's Map 1786] , while brother Barnabas probably settled in Western
Ontario . John Cain KRRNY was married to Elizabeth Prentice daughter of Daniel Prentice
KRRNY and Mary Hamiton . Their children may include Lenah Cain m. George Crites of
Cornwall , Barnabas Barney Cain [my line , named after his uncle] m. Mary McEwen daughter
of David McEwen and Sarah Carr / Kerr daughter of William Carr / Kerr KRRNY . Other
children may be Daniel & Steven Cain who applied for land as sons of UEL John in 1816
, as did Barney in 1811 and sister E!
lenor in 1819 , another sister may be Mary Cain m. William Hall .
Barney Cain m. Mary McEwen daughter Mary Ann Cain m. John Snetsinger in Cornwall 1843 .
