How nice to hear from you. This is my line, but I am having to give you what
my memory will burp up, as we have just come through a major computer
failure. He is John Howard CAIN, son (along with brother George and a sister) of
John CAIN and wife whose name I don't recall right off. They came out of
Greensville County, VA, although I seem to remember that J.H. was actually born in
Culpeper or Fauquier County. J.H. married Percilla WASHBURN, d. of Thomas
WASHBURN. There is a marriage record extant for them in western TN, again will
have to remember exactly which county. John was a preacher in the Church of
Christ, and they settled in Harrison County, TX, I think in Hallsville. There is
info on them in the local Harrison history book.
Their daughter Emma married James C. BASS, my line. They had 3 sons who
survived childhood, and a daughter who died. After the early death of J.C. BASS
in the mid 1880's, Emma m. Wm McHANEY who was visiting family in TX, and
returned to his home (with her 3 young sons) in Gibson County, TN. I think she died
in 1908. As I recall, they are buried in White Rose Cemetery.
Hearing from you is great incentive to recapture all my data! What is your
interest in John and Percilla?
