I know this isn't what you were looking for, but I was wondering if you were
aware of any connections between CAIN family members with the HODGES
family?? My HODGESes lived in Platte Co., MO for abt 13 years prior to 8
teen and adult children accompanying their parents, Jesse Monroe HODGES &
Catharine STANLEY, overland 1847 to OR. There were 5 or 6 marriages of
HODGES children in Platte Co.. before 1847 - one of these was bet. Thomas
HODGES and ??? CAIN. Of the 4 married children left behind, at least one
was known to have moved to KS, one place being Leavenworth.
I''d surely appreciate any help.in discovering what this lady's name was and
info abt descendants. Thank you.

Subject: Cain Politician
Can anyone tell me how I would go about looking for information on
an
ancestor who ran for public office? My great-great-grandfather, Thomas
Cain,
ran for both County Treasurer and State Senator in Kansas.
Unfortunately,
I
don't know exactly when -- I suspect it was in the late 1800s.
From what
I've read in his obituary, I don't think he actually won the offices -- at
least not State Senator -- but I'm hoping I could learn more about him if
I
knew where to look for information on his campaign. I'm hoping
to avoid
looking through every single newspaper during that era. Any ideas would
be
appreciated.
