Dear List and Karen,
I can identify the Daniel Cains (2) of Perry Co. Ohio. John Cain of Madison
Twp. had a son Daniel G. Cain and James Cain of Hopewell Twp. had a son
Daniel Cain. John and James were the sons of Daniel and Priscilla Cain of
Orange County, New York. I have not determined the exact date of their
arrival in Perry Co, OH, but John Cain died there in 1824. [ John and James
also each had a daughter Priscilla. John's Priscilla was ny great
grandmother.]

Thanks for the reply last week, Mary Alice. Christmas done and I am back home and onto
genealogy!
My Cain's are in Reading Twp. of Perry County, Ohio. It has been so difficult to
find any
tracks of them coming into Ohio. The only mention I have of another state is that John
and
James Cain both say they were born in Pennsylvania-- approx 1794 & 1795. Patrick
Caine who
lived next door to John(the father, I believe) disappears into thin air after 1830
census.
However, I did find on the Cumberland County and PA genweb sites that Irish Scots came to
the Cumberland Valley in the early 1700's and then moved onto western PA after that.
I am
tracking all Patrick Cains in PA in the 1700's. I believe that they came to Ohio as
early
as 1810.
Anyone else searching Cain/Kain's in that time period in Pennsylvania I would love to
correspond with you and pool our finds!
