Hi Denise, In looking through my files I found several Cain lines. John Cain born about
1760 in County Tyrone, Ireland came to Washington County, MD where he married Mary Means.
They settled in Greene County, PA. But I don't see a Joseph listed as a son. I found
a Joseph Cain born about 1818 in Beaver County, PA and he went to Howard County, IN. His
wife was Nancy A. Reed. There was a Humphrey Cain found in the 1820 census living in
Fayette County, PA. There was a John Cain who came from County Armagh, Ireland about 1713
to Chester County, PA. And finally I have a Michael O'Cain who also came from Ireland
and first settled in NJ about 1740. He left that area & went to Greene County, PA
where he dropped the "O'" from his name. Not alot is known about where most
of his children went. Some moved down into western VA (now WV). If you think any of
these could be of your line please contact me personally at: sjcainevans(a)hotmail.com and I
will share what I have on them.!
Shirley
