I am searching for information on an Emma or Emily or some other variation CARTER (she
might have been known or used several) who would have married a CAIN / KANE around 1860.
The 1880 Census says her father was born in NC.
She had a son Benjamin (his name may have been Thomas Benjamin - but no proof) b. 1865 ca
in Indiana. He lists his fathers birthpalce as KY on the 1880 Census in Pulaski Co., IL.
He may also be later in Alexander Co., IL..
On the 1870 Evansville, Vanderburgh Co., IND census there is a 5 year old Ben CAIN living
with a Thomas Carter. I think this might a brother of Emily. I think the boy may have
been with his other relatives because his other had remarried and had 1 year with her.
An Emily J. KANE md a Wm Hudson in 1868 in Evansville and I believe these to be the same
couple found on the 1880 Pulaski CO., IL census with a Benjamin KANE as step son b. ca
1865 in IND.
