Answering my own question:
1860 census
Evan Cain 71
Levicy Cain 69
Margaret Cain 12 (b 1848)
Emily Cain 31
1850 Census shows a Margaret born to James Cain and Mary Melvin in 1848. James Cain and
Mary Melvin were both dead by 1860. The only Margaret Cain found in 1860 who is the right
age is living with Evan Cain.
James Cain married to Mary Melvin is the son of James Cain born 1752.
James Cain b 1752 appears to have an unaccounted for son (1790 census).
Evan Cain's birth year, via 1860 census, is 1789.
Since Levicy Cain, wife of the above Evan, would have been around the age of 50 when
Margaret was born it is quite probable that Margaret is not their daughter but rather a
niece or grandchild.
I believe that this Margaret Cain is the Margaret Cain born to James Cain and Mary Melvin.
Following this logic then James Cain and Evan Cain are related, possibly brothers.
This would make Evan Cain the missing son of James Cain b 1752.
Per, but logical, speculation.
