Dear people,
We have hit a stone wall finding any Cain's before my grandfather, Joseph
Carter Cain (Sr.) who was born in Casey County Kentucky about 1860.
The only note we have for his father is that his name was Wilkerson or
Wilkersen from a baby book my mother kept of my antics. There is a rumor
that one of the great grandparents was American Indian, but at the time I
heard this before most of my relations died out it sounded like a deep
family secret. They may have come from western Tennessee since we have heard
there was a "Greeley Cain" that was somehow connected to the family who
was supposed to have lived in Sweetwater. My grandfather lived near
Richmond, Kentucky where my dad was born (Terril, which was deleted
as a result of building a government facility over it during World War II).
Any connections anyone has handy would be helpful.
