Hello,
I have a Martha CANE born (reportedly) in Washington Co., Virginia ...
but I can find NO RECORD of her birth or even of her existence until
she married Jesse Tate Dever in 1806 in Claiborne Co., Tennessee ...
Martha (a.k.a. Patsey) was born bet. 1782 - 1790 (estimated).
The following folks are of interest to me because (1) there is
reference to two CANE men living in Washing Co. in the *right* time
period & (2) Tate is the surname of Jesse Dever's supposed step-father
(Jesse's parentage is in question ...). Can anyone identify *my*
Martha CANE's family .... or provide information about the other Cane
families so I might at least eliminate them as potential ancestors?
<grin>
