My Hardy Cain b c1769 NC, d 1814 Amite Co., MS, m Mary Foreman. It is
believed your John Cain was a relative, that he is the son of William Cain
of Wilkinson Co., MS, that they were in Orange Co., NC first. When I
researched my Hardy Cain, I also worked out the descendants of your John
Cain, not only to separate them from mine, but because eventually descendants
of both families intermarried. I believe that John Cain. 4601 Concord Dr.,
Garland, TX 75042 jecain(a)worldnet.att.net has the details concerning all
this. I have about 121 pages of your MS Cains written up in my book CAIN,
1988. Also there are 57 pages of SC and NC Cain records. Fully indexed,
spiral bound, $45.00, order from Margaret Ezell, 13315 Queenstown Lane,
Germantown, MD 20874-3476.
I believe the family accepted the William Cain of Wilkinson Co. as being
sure, but I am not sure how certain they were of this William being from
William of Orange Co. My Elisha Cain, father of Hardy who died 1814, was
also in Orange, but when Chatham Co., NC was formed, he fell in Chatham and
William, a prominent merchant remained in Orange. My Cains go back to early
1700s to a William with wife Elizabeth who probably was a Brasfield.
Good luck on your search. I am very interested in any findings you discover
and hope you will eventually let me know.
Sincerely, Mildred Ezell, 13315 Queenstown Lane, Germantown, MD 20874-3476.
