Cain,James Box 21 Pack 486. Probate Judge Office.Abbeville,
S.C. I, James Cain Senr. of Granville County being weak and very
sick, but of perfect mind and memory thanks be to God. First I will and
desire that my just and lawful debts be paid being lawfully proven. I
give to my wife Frances Cain during her natural life or widowhood my
maner house, one feather bed and furniture,
four milk cows and kitchen furniture. I give to my son William
Cain one shilling sterling. I give to my son James Cain one shilling
sterling. I give to my dtr. Frances Norrell one shilling
sterling. I give to my drt. Hannah Caudle one shiling sterling. I give to
my drt. Peggy Cain one shilling sterling. I give to my son
Randel Cain my maner house and plantation containing 100 acres and two
feather and furniture, two iron potts and hooks, one large
and other small, four head horses, my sorrel riding horse, five
head of cows. If my son Randel die before come the age of twenty
one, the land to be equally divided between my sons William and
James Cain. I appoint John Cowen and George Walton my executors.
Dated 21 Aug.1777. Wit. Jno. Cowan, George Walton. signed: James
FC Cain. 96 Dist. a Dedimus to be directed by John Thomas Esq.
Will proven on oath of John Cowan on the 27 Oct.1783 before Robert
Anderson, J.P. By John Thomas Jr.,Esq. to Robert Patterson, Daniel
Walker, River Banks, John Travis. All or any three of you are authorized
and impowered to view and appraise the goods and chattels of James Cain
decd. Dated 12 Nov. 1783.
