Hi all.
This weekend I was looking through some Microfilm of the Creighton News,
which I ordered on inter-library loan. I was looking for the obituary of
Joseph Carroll. Since I knew his date of death, I went straight to that
date, and there it was, on the front page. Wow! That was easy! Since the
Creighton News is a weekly paper, the film contained Newspapers for three
years, 1922-1924. I found the obit that I was looking for so fast, I
decided to search the rest of the film to see what I could find. I found
lots of stuff related to Carroll, but also articles about the Kane's. Kane,
remember is Rose's Mother's maiden name. I was very surprised to see an
article with the headline, CHAS. KANE TAKES OWN LIFE. It was about Rose's
cousin, Charles Kane. Since this is a weekly paper, the news article and
the obit were in the same issue. If you would like to read both aritcles,
you can view them at my web site, under, News Articles and Obituaries. One
of the other things I found was a full page ad about the Action of Joseph
Carroll's estate, giving a list of items to be sold including live stock,
horses, cows, pigs and wonderful household items (that I would just love to
see!). Another interesting point was that Frank Carroll was listed as the
Actioneer. I found Franks name on many other sale ads, this must have been
his profession. I am working on getting Joseph Carrolls obit up on my sight
and hope to do so today or tomorrow.
**When reading about Chs. Kane, please note that Rose Carroll also had a
cousin, Rose Kane, not to be confused.
I think that's all the "Genie" news for now......will keep you posted....
Tootle-loo.....
