Let me share this information with all.
I was born and raised in Clay County WV 1920/30s.
My dad was killed in the mines in the 30s and all my aunts and uncles were
dead or at least I thought they had died. I checked the S/S Death records and
I thought I had found them all; but? I have found an aunt by accident. Her
name is Goldie Cain Butcher. I read in the Clay County Free Press Obituary
for Herman Butcher (her son). Goldie was listed as surviving mother, so I
checked the surviving brothers that were named, and where they were from. I
found one and tried to call him; however he was not at home. I called another
brother. He thought I was pulling his leg. I left a message for Bobby and he
called me back. We talked & talked. Goldie is 91 and will be visiting her
son this Easter. The main thing about this story is when we are looking for
our family, we have to check and double check. Bobby is going to try and see
if she remembers about the early years in Clay County; how her three younger
sisters died before they were 10; and who a couple of them married. He is
going to find out if she remembers about my Dads life, as
I do not remember too much about him, as he was killed when I was only about
five
years old. To me this is another Easter Miracle. I am anxious to talk to
them again
to see just what all she does know and remembers about my childhood days.
Hope you enjoy this story. Frank
