Thank you. For the DNA testing, those with ancestors in a certain Cain
group might agree to pool funds for testing for a new member that finds the
cost prohibitive, in order to further everyone's knowledge in that line. It
is not always the case, only in certain family lines that are anxious to
obtain new members with information about this group, and I would say
unfortunately it is more often NOT the case than the reverse. The funds are
offered to help someone who would do the DNA testing but finds the cost to
be a financial barrier.
In my line there is a possibility of pooled funds for those with strong
reason to believe a potential connection to Patrick Cain b 1760-1765 of
Nelson and Grayson Co KY m. Maranda of Maryland, immigrated from (likely) Co
Galway, Ireland through Carolinas, Philadelphia or Maryland. He is related
through DNA match to Thomas Cain b abt 1790 m. Maria Connor in or near
Dunmore, Co Galway with sons John, b. 1823, William b. 1827 & Thomas b.
1829, migrated to Australia in 1848.
Please email me for details if you have a male Cain descendent willing to do
DNA testing, and suspected descent from a Cain/Kain/Kean/Caign/Kaighn from
Ireland, as well as a financial need for some of the cost of the DNA
testing. Preference is given to a strong suspected connection to the lines
described above with some type of documentation to a Cain ancestor in the
1760-1800 time frame, so that we have a potential match to our family group
and will gain knowledge for all of the descendents.
No proof of finances is asked, we trust that serious researchers come
forward only as needed in the search for their Cain ancestor, and together
we are likely to find our common ancestor more quickly than separately.
Unfortunately we have to reserve the right to refuse financial help to those
not meeting the genealogical criteria above as our own funds are not
unlimited.
Regards
Candy

Candy,
Your info information is very impressive. Thank you for continually
sharing.
My Cain's are: John Cain b 1725? - (England/Ireland/Isle of Man). Family
legend has John coming from Delaware with a man named Edmund Iliff and
settling in Mays Landing, NJ. 1740's --> John Cain b 1755 --> Thomas Cain b
1777 d 1835 --> Thomas Cain Jr. b 1810 d 1881 --> Charles E. Cain b 1859 d
1939 --> Melvin Cain b 1887 d 1948 --> Earl Cain b 1913 d 1981 --> Earl
Cain (self).
All Cain's to Earl lived in Mays Landing, NJ area. I can't find John coming
to America. John #2 I feel certain fought in the American Revolution and
was Thomas Sr's father - but can't prove it. I have documents for Thomas
Sr. - down to Earl
I am interested in your comment that "funds may be available" for the DNA
test cost?
Thanks, Earl Cain - NJ

Regarding your message below - I have a Patrick Cain, born abt.1760 - 1765,
also from what may be the same area of Ireland. It has been said that he
may have come up from Ireland through the Carolinas with his brothers to
Kentucky, but have not been able to find any proof. I have also seen what
may be a young Patrick as an indentured in Philadelphia, with possible time
in Maryland as his wife was from Maryland. I know for certain he ended up in
Grayson Co Kentucky by sometime before 1810, possibly as early as 1790, and
was definitely born in Ireland, DNA has established that.
Have you ever done DNA testing? We have a group of Cains that have
established the connection to County Galway Ireland, and are searching for
the year they came to the U.S. I believe it was between 1775-1795, based
upon possible timing of various times I have found Patrick in the U.S. If
you would consider the DNA testing, we may be able to connect our lines, or
you may find a totally different line in Ireland. All you need is a male
Cain descendent. The funds may be available for help with the cost.
Candy
Patrick Cain b 1760-1765 Ireland --> William H. Cain b 03 July 1797 Grayson
Co KY --> Charles S. Cain b 26 Aug 1825 Grayson Co. KY --> Hardin Thomas
Cain 16 Feb 1856 Spencer Co IN --> Charles L. Cain 29 Mar 1895 Spencer Co
IN --> Richard Taylor Cain --> Candace Marion Cain

William T. Cain b.1765 is who I'm looking for as well. We are from his son
Abel b.1798, and from his son, Isaac b.1839. Did you ever find out anything
on William? I would like to know when he came to America, and who his wife
was as well. Happy to share what I have.
