Do you have access to Ancestory.com? Go into the 1860 census in Polk Co, Texas and you
will find the whole family - William Cain, age 48, and wife Eliabeth, age 47, were with
their children William (21), Ara (20), Elizabeth (20), and Nathaniel (age 13) in Coffee
Co, Ala in 1850 census. I know they are related to my gggrandfather, but not sure how.
They all seem to appear together in different census and locations.
In 1860 in polk William Sr (59) and Elizabeth (47) had Elizabeth (22?? - might have been a
cousin but not same in 1850 unless ages were recorded incorrectly), James Nathaniel (20),
Merintha (19 - probably his wife), and ann (3) with them in household in census. Whoever
gave those ages may have guessed but it's the same family. In 1870 they are still in
Polk (Richard, Patrick, Elijah, but I don't know about William -- you might check
there too)
