The Patrick Cain you mention might be the Abel Patrick Cain that is the son of Abel
Patrick Cain.
Able Cain, born in Ireland. Cain from Galaway, Ireland with his father, William Cain Sr.
in the early 18th century to Georgia. There were 42 Cain's who came by ship over from
Ireland. Some joined the Continental Army and some came South. One Cain was killed on
board ship on the way over. Able Cain moved from Georgia to Florida then to Dale County,
Alabama, then to Polk County, Texas in 1852/53 and settled on Big Sandy Creek. Received a
land grant of 320 acres. Census of 1860, he declared 320 acres on his on headright, 191
acres on the Whittington Survey, 1 slave, 40 hogs , 4 mules or oxens and a wagon.
Louisiana Census of 1850 show Able Cain and family living in Clairbourne Parish, LA.
