I descend from William Cain, born abt 1805 in NC. William had one son,
Daniel Green Cain, b. abt 1832 in Barbour County, AL. This family lived in
Coffee County, AL.
D.E. Cain (a distant cousin) who researched this line in the 1970's and
1980's believed that William Cain descended from Daniel Cain in Guilford
Couny (1790 census). This Daniel shows up in 1820 in Rowan County, NC, with
three sons--Thomas H., Anderson, and William.
Mr. Cain stated that "All three sons of Daniel Cain owned land in the
Dutchman Creek area, which included land in Rowan, Guilford, and Davie
Counties."
Further, Mr. Cain states that "William Cain disappears from this area
between 1830 and 1840." He felt that William must have sold his land in
the Dutchman Creek area and moved.
Because I have no further information on this particular Cain line, I would
like very much to either prove or disprove my family's connection to Daniel
Cain of Guilford County, NC. and would be most grateful for your help.
