Bingo!! You hit some else researching Daniel Cain. My line is proven
to
Abner Cain of Greene County, Ohio. Abner would have been part of a large
group of Cains that came to Ohio from Guilford County, North Carolina and
born prior to 1800. I traced Hannah Cain who married Samuel Knight to
come
to that conclusion. Also in the 1790 census there is a Jerediah Cain
with
9
persons. This name Jerediah shows up again in Greene Co., OH on a
tombstone
of Mary, wife of Jerediah Cain. Daniel purchased land in Guilford
Co. in
1796--I have the deed being copied and will be in the mail soon. There
was
also an Andrew with a deed record around the same time. . Daniel
then
purchased land in Ohio from Alex Barnes that is in Sugarcreek Twp., Greene
Co., OH in 1806. Mary Cain is living next to Daniel and his wife Sarah
(Knight) in the Greene Co., OH, 1820 census.
I really want to get all this Cain information straightened out. Wouldn't
it have been nice if we could find better records?
Tlhere is information on the web about a William Cain line and they were
in
the same area of North Carolina. Prehaps you could look at that
lineage
to
see if it seems familiar to you.
Sincerely, Dianne Cain Black
