I thought maybe she was native American since I haven't been able to
find out about her. Family rumor says we have Indian blood.
I sent a note to this group a few years ago asking for possible links to my
ancestry, which rumor also has it contains an American Indian, but then got
no replies. I will try once more with what I have and see if there is
anyone with information on or before my great-grandfather. According to
information in my baby book , my mother entered for him the
name Wilkerson Cain and another family rumor says that he may have come
from or had relatives in Tennessee. The only information I have on him is
that he had one son named John Cain who married an Emma and produced one
offspring, Bertie Cain. The other son was my grandfather Joseph Carter
Cain, who was born 13 May 1859 in Lincoln County Kentucky and was married
twice. The unknown first wife and he produced an Elva and Isley, and he
married the 2nd wife in 1888, my grandmother Nettie Hill.
My suspicion is that Wilkerson may have had an Indian wife and produced my
grandfather, but I have no data on this.
