There seems to be difference of the two entries on the Nicholas Cain family.
Can anyone shed further light or proof on this Nicholas family. I am
currently showing, (without proper documentation) that Sarah Cain born 22 Feb
1775 in Greenbrier Co. VA was the dau of James A. Cain and Elizabeth Custer,
his wife. James A Cain was born 1739 in Bucks Co, PA and married there in
1768/9. I show that James A. Cain was the son of Nicholas Cain and his wife
Catherine Mann. I show Nicholas born around 1707 and married about 1736.
This marriage may have been to his second wife, Catherine.
Hope someone has some firm documentation on this family to either confirm it
or to correct it. Thanks for help.

Ancestral File, Tucson Family History Center has a file for Nicholas Cain,
wife Catherine and son James A. Cain. States Nicholas born about 1713,
"prob. England" and wife Catherine born about 1717 in Germany.

"His name is spelled Nicholas Carn on the Captain's list, Nicolas Carn on
the Oath of Allegiance, and Nicolas Kern on his mark. On the Captain's
list there is a Henry Kern, age 27 (name partially erased), Magdilen
Carnin, age 45, and two children, Urik Willm Karn and Margaret Karn. You
can't tell relationships from the list - there are separate lists for men,
women, and children. Henry Kern isn't on either of the oaths."
