The recent P o r n message was received by most of the lists
on rootsweb and has been reported. Rootsweb hackers are busy trying to
determine the source and stop it.
I would like to request that everyone please refrain from posting
messages to the list regarding spam. I get copies of everything you do
and a lot more that you don't see that has been intercepted by the
rootsweb server. I report them all and the rootsweb people are working
very hard to fine tune the filters to keep them ALL out and also
complain directly to the source ISP when it can be determined. I
realize that much of this stuff is offensive but posting messages to the
list will just double and triple the traffic on the lists and interfere
with legitimate messages. It also aids some of these sick people who
just want to vandalize and interrupt the lists. Here are some things we
all can do to stop spam:
Write your congressman (or congresswoman) and ask for a law to make it
illegal.
Never, never, never reply directly or (heaven forbid) buy any of things
advertised. The reply addresses are usually bogus and if nobody buys
anything some of them will stop.
Thanks for your time.
John E Cain, listowner.
