I believe Jonathan Day Cain is a brother to my William R. Cain. Other
siblings that I show is Richard Allen Cain that married Nancy Caroline
McCauley; Rebecca Cain that married Samuel Jasper McKay; Robert Cain that
married Jane Cooper Lusk.
My William R. was born 16 Mar 1813 and died 7 Jan 1853. He was married to
Nelly Boutwell(?), who is buried next to him in Wake Forest Cemetery near
Thomastown (Leake Co.) MS.
Parents of William R. is believed to be William Cain and Nancy _______.
The elder William Cain died prior to May 1818. I have a copy of a marriage
record of Nancy Cain to a William Gray in May of 1818 in Franklin Co., MS.
Nancy remarried this Wm. Gray and had some addl. children.
On the 1860 census of Leake Co., MS, Nancy Gray is living in the household
of W.H. Blocker. It is believed her daughter by Wm. Gray married a Blocker.
Listed in the same household is Richard A. Cain, age 23, farm laborer.
On the 1850 census of Leake Co., MS, M. Blocker is living next door to
William R. Cain.
Don't have proof of this parentage, but there seems to be a connection.
Do you have any information to substaniate of dispute this information?
Would be glad to share whatever we can.
