You may well be right about Manx origins, and I may risk causing offence by pointing out
that a Manx disguise was often adopted by
Irish Catholics named Cain. If your family are Manx, that's a plus in that the Manx
parish registers had a better survival rate than in Ireland. If your Cains were Irish, the
best bet is often a Y-DNA test. This works for Manx Cains too. The Cain DNA project at
www.familytreedna.com/public/Cain-Caine has several Cain families of Manx origin. These
have Norse Viking type DNA, so easily distinguished from most Celtic Irish.
