Freddie Joe Cain March 29, 1928 - Aug. 2, 2009
Freddie Joe Cain, 81, of Duncan, died Sunday, August 2, 2009, in Duncan.A memorial service
will be at All Saints' Episcopal Church at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug.7, with the Rev. Joseph
Running officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Don Grantham Funeral Home.
There will be no visitation at the funeral home.He was born March 29, 1928, in Marlow, to
Fred Fletcher Cain and Bertha Ruth King Cain. He married Joyce M. England in Duncan on
Sept. 16, 1951. To honor their union, they were blessed with four children: Candayce,
Mark, Kevin and Kent.He attended and graduated from Rush Springs High School, where he
lettered in basketball and band. He attended the University of Oklahoma and was throughout
his life an avid Sooner fan.From 1948 to 1950, he was a member of a crew employed by GSI
of Dallas, Texas, that conducted the first surveys for petroleum on either side of the
Amazon River from Belem, Brazil, to Manaus, Brazil. He was then employed by Anson Drilling
Company of Okla!
homa City, based in Colombia, South America and was on various locations all over the
country. He later spent two years working for CLEM in the Algerian Desert as a rig
superintendent. He returned to Colombia with Anson and remained there until his retirement
in 1986. Unable to take his well-deserved rest, he owned and managed Holladay Steamaction,
a carpet cleaning service in Duncan and finally retired in 2006.He is survived by his
wife, Joyce, of the home; his four children: Candayce M. Cain Coutler and her husband.
Charles. of Duncan, Mark F. Cain and his wife, Diane of Stamford, Conn., Kevin J. Cain of
Duncan, and Kent D. Cain of Houston, Texas; his grandchildren: Mitchell Cain, Jeffrey
Cain, Sarah Elizabeth Arms and her husband Rick, Jennifer Claudio, James Claudio and Clay
Cain; three great-grandchildren: Dakota and Peyton Arms and James Claudio II; his
brother-in-law, C.A. "Buddy" England of Fairview; a brother, Steve Knight and
his wife, Susan, of Edmond; numerous n!
ieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and friends.He was precede
d in death by his parents; a granddaughter, Jennifer Lindsey Cain; his brother-in-law,
James A. England; and his sister-in-law, Fay England.He will long be remembered by his
family and friends as the main organizing force of get-togethers and family
reunions.Honorary bearers are Mitchell Cain, Jeffrey Cain, Clay Cain, Matt Knight, Eddie
England and Phillip England.Memorial gifts may be made to All Saints' Episcopal Church
