I also have a lot of research/work on your Cain line-John. His lineage and
my line to Daniel Cain of Guilford Co., N. C. has many similarities and I
believe there is a connection in these two lines. I have written a book
about Daniel Cain detailing his deeds and movements finally to Greene Co.,
OH where he lives across the county line from Abner Cain of John or
Jonathan. Daniel also has a son named Abner, my ancestor. I would like to
compare notes with you to determine if we can make the connection. Thank
you, Dianne Black cainlynn(a)hotmail.com

I have a dead end that I hope someone can help me with. John Cain left a
will in 1755 in Edgecombe County (proven 1757), in which he names his wife
Sarah (Hodges) and children Jonathan, Abijah, Zipporah, and Jerusha.
Jerusha was my 6g grandmother who married a Needham Bryan.
While there were definitely other Cains in the area, I have been unable
either to identify who John's father was or what happened to the other
siblings. None of them left a paper trail that I have been able to find
online.
They share some of these unusual given names with another family of Cains
that originated in SC, but I do not know what the connection may be. Any
help much appreciated. Thanks.
