Looking for information on WILLIAM S. CAIN/CANE/KANE who lived in
Baltimore MD. Date of birth approx. 1840-1845. Married Cath. O'Brien
in St. John the Evangelist Catholic church Oct. 1865. His place of
birth in church records is given as Co Kildare but no town name.
Census info gives date of immigration as 1846 but that may be
questionable. No idea if there were sibs nor no knowledge of parents
names. First appears in church records as a sponsor at a Baptism in
St. Johns in Aug. 1857.
Despite repeated searches of the Baltimore Passenger Arrival
records, he has never been found. Perhaps someone can give me some
feedback on the ship arrivals. Were all of the passengers re-
corded or was it possible for some to get through without making it
into the records? Perhaps he entered the country through another
port. The irony is that although I have been successful in locating
German ancestors entering in Baltimore, I have NEVER repeat NEVER
found a single one of the Irish ancestors entering here despite the
fact that there was a sizable Irish presence in Baltimore.
I welcome any help or suggestions that anyone has in finding
this man and any of my other Irish.
