I am searching for the following individuals:
Edwin Harmon Cain
Fred Merrion Cain married Ilene Ritz on 9/26/1944 in Oakland, CA
(Ilene was born 9/26/29). Fred served in the USNR in 1944 and
travelled all over the place)
James Cain (served on the USS Chester WWII- from California)
Robert Cain (served on the USS Goodhie WWII- from California)
Could also be a Marge, Johnnie, Wayne, Bud Cain. Maybe even Frank???
I believe these people are all brothers/sisters, but I'm not sure.
I've got a book with a whole bunch of photos-- some have captions and
some don't. The book is an old Navy book and the owner pencilled in,
"Cain U.S.N.R. Personal- And I ain't kidding 1944". The inside of the
cover says, "Donated to Edwin Harmon Cain By Fred Merrion Cain
Junior". It looks like one of those blank books purchased at the base
maybe. There are a lot of photos, like I said, and then in the back
is a list: "Voyages of Fred Marion Cain Jr." dated Jan 2, 1943. When
I bought this book, the seller told me that it was found at a
lost-in-found box at an apartment complex in Palo Alto, California. I
live in Dublin, California and it seems that these people all lived in
Oakland, California, which is practically next door. There is also an
Oakland taxi cab driver license for Edwin Harmon Cain with all the
following information (all typed on a TYPEWRITER onto a 3-by-5 index
card!!!) :)
Name: Edwin H. Cain
Address: 2425 Grove Street Oakland
Age 26 Height 5 ft. 7 1/2 inches
Weight: 145 Hair Brown Eyes Blue
Employer: Yellow Cab
It's got his photo and signature on it.
If you know of these people, or are relatives, please e-mail me, as
I'd like to get the book in the hands of someone who will appreciate
it! I know that if someone had a book like this for someone in my
family, I'd be in heaven!
Thanks,
Debbie Conner Mascot
