Message Board Post:
Karen,
There are several people working on the Cains' in NJ. Some seem to think that the
Cain's came from the Isle of Man and others say they came from England. Maybe over
the years people have gone to the English side because most people don't know where
the Isle of Man is. It's in the Irish Sea between England and Ireland. It's
almost the same distance from Wales and parts of Scotland. I have been doing a great deal
of research lately about the Isle of Man and there have been Cain's there since about
the very early 1500's. Many left the island and moved to Liverpool for work. With
the DNA testing that is being done, it's a pretty good bet that the Cain name was
originally from Northern Ireland. But there may have been people who left very early on
and carried the name over to England. But it's a pretty safe bet to search in that
part of the world. Hope this helps you some.
