Dear Evelyn,
Many thanks for your reply. I have looked through the family records I have and
couldn't find any of the names you listed, so how Polly fits in to your lot is a
mystery. There is, however, a name that my grandfather was interested in back in the early
part of the 20th Century, Vinton, a family being connected to his mother's the
Austins.
Regarding Eldon Green, he was active on-line with Lee Austin in the 1990's but I know
Lee has retired from active family tree work and Eldon, I have a feeling, is no longer
with us, though his son Eldon, Jr., appears to live in CA. Sadly I do not have an email
address for him.
Regarding the Eatons etc., indeed I had come across that but many thanks for the reminder,
one gets so cluttered up with stuff that things get lost under the pile.
The newspaper article I can only imagine came from a local publication, most likely Fort
Atkinson, Jefferson or Madison. I can't imagine that there would have been any
interest outside of the immediate area. Plainly an obituary, Polly at 94, a widow for more
than 50 years with 12 children would have definitely been a celebrity.
I do have a couple of better pictures of Polly, but not great. I'll scan and send them
to you, at least then you'll have a picture of what's in that black blob. It is
frustrating that I have to work at this at arms length, so to speak, 'cause I know the
originals or better copies are lurking somewhere in Wisconsin, but Ireland is such an
awkward and expensive place to get away from.
Regards
Roland
