Dear List Members,
I have discovered that my husbands'ggg-grandparent were:
Joseph CAIN,b.1700's NJ;probably Amwell Twp.Hunrerdon Co.
I believe that he is the son of Walter CAIN and his wife Maryanna who
left Wills in late 1700's Hunterdon Co,NJ
They had 6 sons of whom our ancestor was Joseph CAIN,b.?
who served in the Rev War and then married 1790 Margaret Perrine
born abt 1773 in Bound Brook,Somerset Co,NJ
They had Margaret,James,Eliza,and Joseph CAIN,b.1794.
Joseph Cain,b.1794 -1866;was in the War of 1812.In 1832
he married Mary Sayre in Springfield Presbyterian Church,
Essex(now Union Co,NJ).
They had children;,Joseph Jr.,Kennedy Martin(m.Mary Bedford 1862,George
W.Cain,b.1835 and m.Harriet Hoffman 1864,Margaret,
who married David Campbell 1853,William Ross Cain(buried Springfield
Presbyterian Cemetery,Union Co.NJ,
Henry Cain, possibly removed to Missouri,Bryan Remer Cain,
Susan Adalide.
Both Joseph Cain and his wife Mary Sayre Cain are buried in
Bound Brook Presbyterian Cemetery,Somerset County,NJ
They lived in Adamsville area of Bridgewater Twp.NJ
Also James Cain,b.abt 1795, the brother Joseph,b.1794
and his wife and children are buried in Bound Brook,NJ
Please consider that many Cain's lived on the East Coast
before they migrated to the West or South when the Land
Grants opened up.
I look forward to hearing from anyone with information
on these Cain's,Kain's,Kane,Cane.I have found these
varried spellings with the Cain's I have discovered
here in New Jersey.
Thank you for any assistance.
Barbara Cain
