Hi Marilyn!
My Patrick Cain supposedly came into the country through S. Carolina, but I have
not yet found any proof. I have from an older researcher Jenny Thomas Squier
that he "Arrived in U.S. in South Carolina (?) with brothers Mathew, Michael,
John and then moved on to Grayson Co. Kentucky before 1787." She thought he was
born in Ireland, abt. 1765.
He was in Kentucky by 1792:
2-24-1792 Tax List Nelson Co., Ky
I have tried to place in on an incoming ship but have not yet found him. The
one you found could be mine, what is the date of your entry in Orange County SC?
Thanks
Candy

I have a copy of one page (#276) out of the book "The History of
Orangeburg,
SC by A. S. Salley, Jr. sent to me by another researcher.
It lists the Representatives for the Fork district. Among them is PATRICK
CAIN. (Also listed are John Collins, Britton Williams who it says was hung
by Tories in 1780, Henry Hampton, and James Fair.
Does anyone have any information on this Patrick Cain? I am trying to
determine if it is possibly our ancestor.
Our Patrick Cain was b. 1741 Derry, Ireland was a Rev. War Veteran. He
lived in SC>GA>TN>KY.
Thanks for any help,
Marilyn Cain
