I am looking for information about William Cain, Sr. alive during the late
18th century. He had a son, Abel, who was probably born in North Carolina
around 1800. Abel married Ellen Charlotte Clark(e) in 1821 in Richmond Co.
Georgia. Abel and Ellen gave birth to Isaac Thomas Cain around 1839 in
Florida.
At some point, Isaac moved to Texas and married Susan Ritter where they had
Adrian Cain around 1868. Isaac and family then moved to Louisiana where
they had six more children: John Louis, Patric, Richard, Ellen, Robert, and
Isaac Taylor.
I am a descendant of Robert and would love to correspond with someone who
knows more about William and Abel. I have been told that William Sr. came
to the United States from Ireland with his brother. I have so far not been
able to confirm that. Please contact me at rlcain(a)sprynet.com if you have
any more info, or if you somehow tie into my family.

Ricky,
I am interested in your posting about William Cain and son, Abel. I descend
from William Cain who had sons: Allen, Abel, William and Michael (through the
son William). I found them in the Dooly Co., GA census of 1830. By 1840
Abel, Michael, and both Williams had moved to Dale Co., AL. I found them in
the 1840 Dale Co., AL census. It seems that Allen stayed in Dooly Co., GA.
My estimates of their births are as follows (per census):
William Sr. (1770 and died after 1840)
Allen (about 1795)
Abel (about 1799) with at least 6 sons born between 1826 and 1836.
William, Jr. (b 1802 married Elizabeth Powell in 1827)
Michael boarn about 1809 had one female child in the 1830 census, born 1828.
Please correspond with me further to determine whether this is the same
family. I had no clue where William Sr. came from and had not heard the story
about he and a brother coming from Ireland. Where in NC do you have them
living?
Thank you for your time!
Linda
