Daniel is my 2nd Gr-Grandfather and I would just like to set some things straight. There
is a tremendous amount of mis-information on Ancestry about him. He died in 1907 in
Isabella Co. Michigan. Not in Colorado! His daughter Louisa (BROWN) signed the
certificate. His mother was not Maria Cline. Maria and Josiah were married in 1842..13
years after Daniel was born. Maria would have been 12! If it deoesn't make sense,
probably isn't true! Daniels mother is Unknown. Family history suggest she was a
native American. My father remembered his Gr-Uncle Frank. He always said he looked
exactly like an Indian, as does Daniel and My Gr-Grandmother Amanda.
Daniel did have a sister by his fathers first marriage. She was living with him in 1850.
Possibly another brother besides Joshua per 1840 census of the family.
His son Frank never married. There was a Frank Cain with family in Ohio that matched his
birth year, but it was not Frank, son of Daniel. Followed that line. No connection to
Daniel.
Daniel did have a 1/2 brother William by his fathers 2nd marriage to Maria Cline. William
was born in 1859 (see 1860 Bokes Creek Census)and was not the William b. 1852 that so many
have posted. He didn't marry Amanda Harmon in Noble Co. Ohio. William b. 1852 shows
up in 1880 Census with a family. Daniels brother? 1880 is in Logan Co. Ohio...with his
widowed mother. I guess confusing as a William, 17 yrs old was living with Daniel in
1870. I believe this to be the same William that was living with Daniels wife's
parents in 1860 age 8. Orphan of Henry or Allen?
All one has to do is get the death certificate on the William in Noble to find out he was
born in that county and his fathers name was JOHN. Mother was Elizabeth McGlashen.
Followed that line and can not find any connection.
I work very hard to get the truth. I just wish others would too. It's more than
Copy/Paste.
