Leroy Holland Cain was married to my grandmother Nora Schwartz in 1936 in Yakima County WA. I too have been trying to get information on him. My mother, Mary Ann Cain, is believed to be Leroy's daughter, born MAy 14, 1936, about 4 months before Nora & Leroy were married. I have been searching for decendants of Leroy to discuss some of the facts that I have, including some photos that I believe might be Leroy. Please, will one of you contact me? I would be very excited to make contact. email me at redenius007(a)msn.com. Thank you, Cherl Redenius

Interesting that the box # is the same as one of the addresses I mentioned before, but the Rte # is different. It looks like Louis H Prentice died 4/14/2008 in Seattle, b. 12/2/16, but his obit has no family details. James M. Prentice (brother to Louis), was mentioned in an article during WW2 as missing, and his mother, Mrs. Claude F Cain, was notified. But in her obit James is noted as her son, and no mention of his having died. Footnote.com mentions a James Millar Prentice in their WW2 missing, but I don't have a subscription to access it. Could be the same fellow.

thanx for answering my post...yes, it's a mystery what happened to Lulu and Claude...I do have an update. I found his 1942 WWII Draft card in Seattle WA. Nothing on Lulu, however. Neither of 'em are listed on findagrave.com

What is the address in Seattle on the WW2 card?
Using Newsbank thru my local library, I find several mentions of a Claude F Cain in the Seattle area. I've no way to tell if this is the person you seek.
There is a marriage license entry 7/30/1940 of Claude F Cain age 56, R13 Box 916, to Lillian Foley (no age) 1016 University St.
Then her death Dec 8, 1948, Lillian May Cain, wife of Claude F Cain, living in Pacific Beach WA. She is mother of Mrs. Katherine Cook, James W Prentice, and Louis H Prentice.
Another article in 4/5/1944, has her living at 4410 S. 176th St.
I'm not related.

Claude lived in IA for a time with his parents Pierce Bowman and Sarah Emma Findley Cain. He married Lulu Lula Fenton. Their only child, we know of, was Richard m b 1918-1920. He's buried with his grandparents in Ottumwa Cem, Ottumwa IA. Sometime after the 1925 IA Census, he moved to Los Angeles CA and was living with his sister, Lorene Cain Olney. The last residence document we have is his WWII draft card. He was living in Seattle WA. Your help will be appreciated!!

> As all researchers on ancestry have his death date as 1906, you all might
try his death record...1907 and the newspaper article 7-23-1907 in Battle
Creek MI that tells of his death by being hit by a train. When I look at
the trees for him, that old copy/paste the mis-information is pretty
apparent. I sure wish all you "reserchers" would research. Then maybe the
truth would surface.
