Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb

The Y chromosome is transmitted from the father to the son and does not pass through the female line. So a DNA test of your son would show your husband's YDNA, not the Cain DNA. Regretably the Y-DNA option may not be for you, unless you can locate a male Cain cousin.

According to the Bureau of Land Management, Bushrod W. Cain homesteaded 160 acres in Douglas County Missouri on April 18, 1891. I don't know if this is the same man, but Bushrod is not a common name, so it may be.
