Until I read the post here I had no other information on the Cain family that Ellen Rettie married into in Ontario, Canada. The only info I had was that Ellen Rettie married James C. Cain about 1871. Do you know where and approx. when your Grandfather was born?
After reading this post:
Barnabas CAIN, Sr. b: 1802 Penn. Mary Ann CARNAHAN b: 1819 Ireland married May 1837 in Ontario, Canada. They had James Crawford Cain b:1844 who married Ellen RETTIE 1871, Mary Ann Cain b:abt.1846 married William COOK, George Wellington Cain b: 1848, Barnabas Cain. Jr. b: 1850, Lucy Cain b: 1854, Clairs Cain b: 1856 who married John Phillip HAMILTON 1880, and John Cain b: 1858 married ??? GARBUT.
It is said that Barnabas, Sr.'s parents came from Germany. Barnabas had 5 sisters and two brothers, William and Thomas.
I did a quick search on Barnabas Cain on Familysearch.org, and found various lines stretching back to the 1300's, you may want to check there for additional info on your Jess Bell Cain. Perhaps Jess is decended from one of Barnabas's brothers William or Thomas.
