Your grandfathers middle name intrigued me. My g-grandfathers middle name was also NEWTON. The best I can find out, he was born in (or around) Dalton, Ga.in a small community called Perrenial Springs. I know that is where his wife was from and where both are buried. Let me know if there might be a connection. Thanks

Thanks for your suggestion. But the only other info I have is that they were
from
Missourri. And that Leonard waw born on Oct. 18 1924.And died on April 6, 1967
in Missourri. Also George was born On Nov. 14, 1908 and died on Nov 18 1965.
To the person who sent the above message - You might try the S.S. Death
Index to get information about them. Go to: http://ssdi.rootsweb.com/ and
write in the name and as much information as you have. You can also get a
copy of the application the person filled out for a small fee. The S.S.
Death Index site will tell you how to do that. Good luck.

Looking for any information or co-descendants etc. for James Cane/Cain (Caine) who married Ann Henry in Swanport Tasmania 1849. Their son James Henry Cain/e was born in 1854. I have no record as yet of other children, but suspect there may be some. On the marriage certificate the name is Cane; on J.H's birth certificate it is Cain. On James Henry's marriage certificate it is Caine, which we believe is the original spelling anyway.

There was a Philip Cain in the 74th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry in the Civil War. He enlisted in January 1865 and mustered out with his company in August of the same year. He joined up in either Nescopeck or Berwick, PA (I have it somewhere). I've been interested in this Philip Cain because my gggrandfather, Michael Cain joined the same company a week later. I've always wondered if they were related. The rest of my Kane/Cain family lived in the same area. They mostly settled in Elmira, NY (across the border), but there were people in Waverly, Tioga Co., NY and both Towanda and Canton, Bradford Co., PA as well. We'll have to compare notes.

I am looking for any information on John Mart Cain. I do not know when he was born, but I know he died around 1934 and is buried in Spiro, LeFlore, Oklahoma. I would like to know who his parents were. He married Tennie Priscilla Farley, marriage date unknown.
John and Tennie Farley Cain had 6 known children:
Evie Eunes Cain, born July 8, 1923
Benjamin E Cain, born about 1921
Lloyd Cain, born 1924
Ruby May (Rebia) Cain, born September 16,1926
Earl Cain, birthdate unknown
Junior Cain, birthdate unknown
Some family sources think that John Mart Cain was actually born with a different name and that he changed it to John Cain. The family source thinks that John was hiding from the law and that he worked for one time for a man named John Cain, so he changed his name to John Cain after his employer, so he wouldn't be found. They also remember he owned a store in Spiro, Oklahoma and that it went bankrupt.
Any information on this family would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

I'm looking for any information regarding a Phillip Cain/Kane born about 1826 in Ireland (whereabouts unknown). He first appears on the 1870 Pennsylvania census, but I am guessing that he must have been in the US for at least 18 years prior because his eldest child, Mary, is listed as born in Pennsylvania. Phillip's sixth child and fifth daughter, Catherine aka Cassie, is my gggrandmother.
Phillip's wife, Margaret White, is listed as born in Ireland, but family history says that she was American Indian, passing herself off as "Black Irish", as all the children were quite dark and "Native" looking. I'm still trying to possibly verify this information.
Phillip and Margaret had the following children:
Mary -- married John Rouse
Margaret -- never married, died at 30
Charles -- married Mary Harrison
Ellen -- never married
Susan -- never married, died at twenty
Catherine -- married Richard Taffe/Taaffe
James -- married Ammey ?
Sarah Jane -- died young
Bridget -- became a nun in Wilkes-Barre, PA
Phillip -- married Anna North
