Thomas J. Hughes, Age 47 married Rachel Foster in SW LA 1867. The 1880 census for Rapides Parish LA listed a dau, Lucy, age 18. Lucy must have been from a previous marriage and born in LA circa 1862.
Thomas and Rachel had the following Children:
Frances b. 1869
William Preston, b. 1871, oldest son and potentially the namesake of Thomas J. Hughes' father.
Thomas E.
James Russel
Arthur Monroe who became a M.D.
Maggie
(and apparently a Jefferson Jr.who died as a child)

All I have on Thomas is his name and the marriage data. They married 21 Sep 1865 Newton Co., TX, which is right on the LA border I understand. Then on 11 may 1873 Rosanna Hughes m. A.P. Cane.
Rosanna's brother Austin Wilkinson also m. 31 oct 1867 Newton Co., TX to Mary E. Hughes.
Rosanna's mother was Annett Bazzinett and I don't know where in LA they were from.
Who is the dau. you mentioned?

Have you any idea of State, county or parish in which Annett Bazzinett married Thomas J. Hughes.
'cause I have a Thomas J. Hughes who was married to someone prior to 1862 and had a dau born in LA circa 1862. He was 47 years old when he married my great gm in LA in 1867.
Prior to August 1862 when he enlisted in the Confederate Army in LR AR, he man is a total mystery. Claims to have been born in Copiah MS in 1820, but there was no Copiah Co. MS until 1823. Unable to Identify him on any census until 1880 - the Rapides Parish La census.
Nothing known of parents. May have had a brother named John, and a sister who married an Appleton.

I have been working the Cain family in Sussex, Virginia. Thomas Cain is listed in the Albemarle Parish Register from Sussex area. Born 1/8/1768 the godparents were James Mangum, Jr., Joel Wilkerson, and Bathia Burrow. My connection is with Thomas' brothers Isham (jr.) and Ruffin. Isham migrated to Henry county, GA in 1832 -- I believe he brought the daughters of Ruffin Cain with him. My ancestor, James W. Wilkinson married Frances Cain in 1834.
Let me know if I can help or if you can confirm any children of Thomas Cain's siblings.
Thanks

My great grandmother was Annie Cain, who married William John House in 1877 in Ealing, Middlesex. Her parents were George and Fanny Cain, and they had quite a large family in Ealing (Annie was the eldest). There were in fact quite a lot of Cains in Ealing and Greenford, Middlesex. Does anyone have any Cain links in this area?

There's a marriage record on file in Moniteau Co., MO of one "Francis B. L." Cain marrying Marietta Sinnett on 27 Apr 1879.
Mary Etta/Marietta Sinnett, born abt. 1852, was the daughter of Henry R. and Jane Hoover Sinnett (sometimes spelled Sennet or Senate) of Moreau Twp., Moniteau Co., MO. The Sinnetts were originally from Ritchie Co., (W) VA coming to MO around 1862.
Just last night I found on the Moniteau County of Registered stillbirths (C4543) a full term white female born on 2 Oct 1883 in Moreau Twp., Moniteau Co., MO to "F.P.L." and Mary E. Cain. The mother's place of residence was listed as Warrensburg, Johnson Co., MO.
It may just be coincidence but I think that Francis was probably the son of Cornelius G. and Rebecca Smith Cain (also of Ritchie Co., WV). The reasons I think that is because their son, Cornelius H. Cain was married to Henry and Jane Sinnett's daughter Elizabeth F. and they too lived in Moreau Twp., Moniteau Co. Also on the 1850 Ritchie Co. Census Cornelius and Rebecca Cain had a son named Francis (1yr).
If anyone has info on Francis B. (or P?) L. Cain and Mary Etta/Marietta Sinnett, I would really appreciate hearing from you.
Thanks!

Gosh, this is such an old post I hope your email still works..... I can't believe I missed it... Would love to hear from you.
I'm looking for Francis B. L. (or P. L.?) Cain and wife, Mary Etta Sinnett. They were married 27 Apr 1879 in Moniteau Co., MO and supposedly residing in Warrensburg, Johnson Co., MO around 1883...
If my assumption is correct, Francis was the son of Cornelius G. Cain and Rebecca Smith of Ritchie Co., (W) VA. Francis would have been born around 1849. Francis had a brother named Cornelius H. that was married to Elizabeth F. Sinnett.
Mary Etta Sinnett born about 1852 in Ritchie Co., (W) VA was Elizabeth's sister and the daughter of Henry R. Sinnett and Jane Hoover...
