Hello List,
I too am looking for information on a Caine/Cain family from New York State.
My Caine/Cain family came to the USA approximately the early 1840's and
settled in Yates County, New York. William Caine and I believe his wife's
name may have been Charlotte. William was from the Isle of Man. Their first
child was born in approximately 1842 or 1843, Franklin M. Caine/Cain. Their
second child was born on Oct. 5, 1844 or 1845, William H. Caine/Cain (my
great-grandfather). If anyone has info on this Caine/Cain family originally
from the Isle of Man I would appreciate hearing from you on the list or at
vrcjr(a)aol.com
Thank you in advance.
Regards,
Virgel Cain
Cave Creek, Arizona, USA
Hi,
I have been amazed at the amout of mail that has been going through the Cain
Mail list lately. I have been on it for some time and never saw so much. I
think that it is great. There is only one problem, I haven't seen any info.
about any Cains from New York.
My great grandfather was John Cain who was born approx. 1841 in Londonderry,
Ireland. He married an Anne Connel June, 1867 in New York City. She was from
Lemmerick, Ireland and born approx. 1845.
I have a copy of the 1880 census for them and listed are the children.
Matilda (who married Henry Callaghan in 1888 - NYC), George, Mary (my
grandmother who married David Joseph Boggiano in 1893 - NYC) Jane, Catherine,
Annie, Margaret, and Nellie.
When John was married it is listed that he was a Seaman and the spelling of
his last name was Caine.
Just thought that I would throw this out there in case any of you may have
some ties to New York City.
Happy Hunting to all, I wish you all luck in your searches, Susan

Hi There:
I am looking for the Maxim line that married into the Cain line from Hingham
Mass.
I have gone back as far as Arthur Cain b ? married in Hingham Mass Sarah
Gold, dau. of Edward and Margaret Gold. d Dec 18, 1687 in Hingham.
I would like to find the Father and Mother of Arthur Cain. I suspect he
was born, England, Ireland, or Isle of Mann.
I am also looking for the family of Betsey Perkins Maxim who married David
Francis Cain Nov 12, 1857 in Hingham. I know Betsey Maxim's fathers name
was William, her mothers first name was Lydia. I think that Betsey had
a brother named Jacob William Maxim.
In my family bible it says that Betsey Maxim was born in Wayne Co. Maine.
Lydia Maxim, Betsey's mother,died May, 30 1874.
Yes, Susan...it's nice to see activity on the list. I have not learned
anything further about my John Joseph CAIN of Brooklyn, New York who
married Dora STAMPF. They had a son named Jack Joseph CAIN born 2 Jan
1922. I believe Jack married a woman named Jacqueline and they had a
son known to me only as J. J. Cain. I believe he had two
daughters...Jillian Agnes b. 9 November ca late 1970's or early
1980's...and Dayna Rae. I'd sure love to hear from anyone with further
information on this family. Thanks.

S. married a Cain in the late 1700's, I think. They had three sons in VA/West
VA (Shenandoah Valley is one theory). Their names were: George W., b.1812,
m. Priscilla Main in Ohio, Absalom m., b. 1813 m. Caroline in 1862 in Dubuque,
and John m. Orpha Beavers in Highland county OH in 1842 and Elizabeth Shinn

OH, then on to Dubuque, Iowa. They are in the census from 1850-1870 at
least. The mother, Susan was born in PA in 1787 and buried in Dubuque in
1866.

been able to confirm that. She and William Cox Due was married in
1850 in Attala Co. Ms. The first child, Samuel Temple Due was born 1

child was born in 1853 in Texas.
