Surname: Patrick Cain, Agnes Wacha Cain, Michael Cain, Harriet Cornelia
Joy Cain, Michael Kane
-------------------------
Patrick Cain came to the new world through Canada, son Michael was born
in Franksville or Kingston. The 1850 census shows Patrick, age 50 in Wayne
County. Michael's obit says he came to the Lansing area about 1853. Circumstances
concerning Civil War records caused Michael to change the family name to
Kane in order to access a pension. It seems a lot of Cains came through
Canada...are any of them Patrick's siblings? Did Michael have siblings?
Where did Patrick and Agnes die. Just a few of the questions that have
held me marking time. email me direct at PKgaulke(a)aol.com
Thanks for the reply, Nancy.
I'm also early in my research, but your message was very interesting because
my grandmother Cain's great grandfather (Hiram Cain) was born in Georgia
about 1827. His marriage record shows him in Upson County Georgia (1844),
and by census in Macon Co, GA (1850). My Cain was supposed to have 10
brothers and his descendants were in Texas before 1900. So your statement
that your John S Cain was from Georgia and had brothers in Texas by the 1880s
sure caught my interest!
Unfortunately, I'm in the same situation as you and do not (as yet) know the
names of the brothers. But I thought I'd let you know why your message was
of interest. Since my Cain relatives were born, married or buried in the
following Texas counties: Bexar, Caldwelll, Ellis, Fayette, Harris, Hays,
and/or Travis, Denton Co didn't seem to be an unlikely place to ask about
brothers. :-)
The Cains in Texas is a wide issue as there are so many from so many
different places. Everyonce in a while I take a look at those I don't know
that came from GA and AL. Sometime I'll get back to tracking down those
brothers! Meanwhile if you think of something of interest to share or ask,
please feel free to drop me a line. Sometimes I'm tied up and may not answer
right away, but I do try to save my mail and reply when I get time from work.
Thanks....Good luck with your Cains and your other genealogy as well.
Sincerely, R.A.
Looking for info- of Hugh Cain born in Williamstown, MA March 17, 1877
died in World War I 6-14-1916. He served in the Canadian Army. He also
changed his name to Hugh Kane. His wife was Helen Kane and she was from
Calgary, Alberta. I think they had a daughter named June. Any info
would be appreciated. Judy Aiello
Seeking info on siblings and parentage of Mary CAIN, born either March 16,
1822 or June 23, 1823, somewhere in Ireland.
her father is listed as Daniel CAIN.
She married Patrick William DELANEY in Ireland in 1841.
According to his obit, Patrick and Mary came to New Jersey in 1849 before
moving to Maryland.

RE: From: bristern(a)datastar.net (Nancy Brister)
I noticed your post about John S Cain from Georgia who settled in Denton
County -- I wondered if you might know how long your Cains stayed in Denton
County? and/or the names of your John's brothers?
I'm afraid I don't have any info to help as the only records I have on Denton
County are a few notes from the 1910 Texas Soundex for Cains there. These do
not appear to help as the only Cains I located in Denton by that time were
from Alabama. The film is so faint that much information is near invisible
and some information is simply not recorded, like birthplaces and counties.
I'm sure earlier records or the actual census would be more helpful.
Thank you. R.A.
Hi,
I'm seeking information on my g-grandfather, John S. Cain. He was born in
Georgia in 1832. He married Mary Garmon and they had one child, Louvenia
Elizabeth, born in Sheltonsville, GA, in 1878.
In the 1880's, they migrated to Denton Co., Texas, where at least two of
John's brothers had already settled.
I'm trying to track down his parents and hoping to find descendants of his
brothers.
Any help appreciated! Nancy Brister
