Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
I said in my last post announcing the CAIN GenConnect boards that I would be
moving the Cain Queries over to these boards in the near future. After due
reflection, I have decided that it would be better (especially for me) if
those of you who sent queries to me for posting on the old Cain Query Board,
would now post them yourself on the new GenConnect Query board.
Some of you probably want to update these queries and some may no longer be
subscribed to the list so rather than putting a lot of out of date information
on the new boards, I will leave it entirely up to you to repost your queries.
A little clarification may be in order.
In your Welcome message when you subbed to the CAIN list, mention was made
that space was available to post your Cain related queries. Some of you took
advantage of this - most didn't. With the new GenConnect boards now active,
this query page will no longer be necessary or available. All queries should
now be posted on the GenConnect Query board. The Welcome message will reflect
this in the next day or so.
(The Old Cain Query pages will still be available (for reading only) for the
next few weeks but will no longer be available for posting)
Comments welcome
Thanks

My Cain's are listed under the Hanna family on:
http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Park/7577/index.html
There are other Cain homepages that I've run across listed on the main
page under Other Researchers. I hope everyone finds what they are
looking for in the New Year! Barb.
I am looking for any information on the following people:
My paternal grandfather HERBERT JAMES KANE. He was born on May 5, 1883
in Michigan (we believe Sturgis). He was supposedly an orphan, being
raised by an "Aunt Sadie" in Iowa. He married Cora Farmer in Richland,
Iowa. HERBERT JAMES KANE'S father's name was FRANK KANE. He was born
around 1858, but I do not know the location. FRANK KANE married Cora
Dell Reynolds August 15, 1882. Cora Reynolds was from Albion, Indiana.
Her parents names were Dudley H. Reynolds and Hariet Parker Reynolds.
FRANK KANE's father's name was THOMAS KANE and his mother was Mary
Glen. I do not know their birthplace or death. Any information would
be greatly appreciated. Thank you

I have requested space from Rootsweb for GenConnect pages where all Cain
subscribers can post their CAIN / CANE / KAIN, ETC queries, wills, deeds,
bible pages, etc without any intervention from me. I expect to have it
operational within the next few days and will let the list know as soon as it
is ready.

Laura,
My immigrant ancestor came from Ireland (speculation, not proven) to
Pennsylvania and eventually settled in Allegheny/Beaver County. His name was
John CAIN who married Agnes ? I believe he had siblings who may have come
before/after him or with him. More info can be found on my home page:

Greetings! I'm posting again about my CAIN connection:
Elizabeth CAIN was born in 1809 in Kenton Co, Kentucky. In 1828, she married
Daniel PIATT, they had 7 children. After her death in 1843, Daniel remarried.
Elizabeth was the daughter of Asael CAIN, I have his signature on Elizabeth
and Daniel's marriage record. I don't know any more about him....
Not much to go on, but anybody got a spare Asael??? Thanks for checking for
me!
Good luck,
Christine in a gloriously snowbound Chicago (22" in the city, 18" out by me!!!
I LOVE IT!!!)

Hi Listers,
Here is a request from Canada.
James Cain born March 1854, died in Toronto May 9, 1918. Came to Canada
from the USA sometime before 1885 and settled in Toronto. Married a
Canadian by the name of Elizabeth Boyd, b1852 - d1890 and had one child
(that we know of) by the name of Lord Grenville (Roy) Cain. Being only 5
when his mother died, Roy was later adopted and changed his surname to
Clark.
In our 1901 census, James Cain is listed as being born in America but that
his nationality was African. It also indicated he was black and that his
parents were both Americans. While living here in Canada, James practiced
the trade of Barber and at one point owned his own shop and had other
employees.
At the present, I am searching for the marriage certificate, which I hope
will contain the parents names. Other than that I have no idea where to
start my search in the USA.
Any suggestions, ideas or thoughts would be appreciated.
David
