Diana,
Thanks for responding! Why are you so sure they are somehow
related? I am curious what makes you think that?
Certainly, Tulare is about 2 1/2 hours from Modesto, so it is
possible. Furthermore, I am intrigued that you have a George Joseph Long
as well as a Cahoon that married your relative! My Myrtle Long married Wm
Bert Cahoon. Her father was adopted, but I don't know if it was a relative
adoption or what.
I don't know anything about the other Cahoon children besides Wilma
and Margaret. I believe a brother (Raymond?) ended up a "hobo",and the
family lost touch with him.
Margaret Cahoon's husband was from Norman Oklahoma. They had at
least one of their children in Los Angeles, about 3 1/2 hours south of
Tulare. This family came out during the Dust Bowl migration. (Our family
is spread between Oakland and Los Angeles now...I'm in Merced in the
central San Joaquin Valley). It is very possible that cousins came out
also at the time of the Dust Bowl, and are spread throughout California,
but I have no evidence. So I am curious what causes you to think so.

I am also looking for information on a California CAHOON family.
George
W.
CAHOON (CALHOUN), b. abt. 1839 in Missouri married my ggrandmother
Evelyn
Kathleen CLOUGH on November 4, 1876 in Tulare County California.
There is some confusion over their children. George H., b. about 1851
was
from a previous marriage by George W. to a woman unknown to me. David
CAHOON, b. about 1879, and James, b. abt 1884 were the children of
George W.
and Evelyn. Little David is not listed on census records by the year
1900.
There is the possibility he died at a very young age.
Evelyn CLOUGH married four times. George W. CAHOON (MO), Daniel Boone
BUSBY (KS,IL) (my line), John W. MENTEER (MO) and George Joseph LONG
(unknown). It is difficult to track her children as they assumed the
surname of their stepfathers with each marriage.
You will find this intermingled family and other records including
biographies for George W. CAHOON and Evelyn BLOSSOM (her adopted name)
at
the following website,
http://www.compuology.com/cagenweb/tularcty.htm.
Although this information doesn't contain the specific names you
mentioned,
there is no doubt in my mind they are related in some way. I am
interested
because there are half-cousins involved, but have been spending my time
trying to determine my true BUSBY lines.
Thank You
