Sounds like you hit the jackpot in Swan Quarter, Sherry. My husband's father, Henry
Daniel Calhoun, was born in SQ in 1903, just proving how many Calhouns/Cahoons were around
the area. Unfortunately, we live in Fla., so it's not so easy to get to those
wonderful resources. Two things to pass on: First, I was interested in your McKinney
line, as my 4G Grandfather was a Major James McKinney....from Butler Co., PA., but his
father was born in County Down, Ireland. I went back and looked at my tree again, but
found no siblings who moved to NC. Don't know if we're (very distantly) related,
but I've found in doing ancestry, you never know.
Second, you mentioned Thomas Cahoon and Elisha Cahoon from the 1700s. I've been
corresponding thru Ancestry email with someone who has put together a phenomenal Cahoon
family tree. Since I have access to it, I checked, and although I found no Thomas Cahoon,
I did find an Elisha, born 1732, Craven County. That may be your Elisha.
I'm not exactly sure of the protocol/permissions, etc. for Ancestry, so I will email
Donna and refer her to this thread. Then maybe she can connect you to her tree. As I
said, it's a wealth of information, and it should help you out.
Meantime, I'm still working on Abel.
Best, Kathy
