You are right about that area being saturated with Cahoons. The problem lies in the fact
that so many have the same first name. My sister and I have been to courthouses in both
Tyrell and Hyde Counties. The courthouse in Hyde was destroyed by a hurricane and a lot of
records were lost. If you ever get a chance they have a school library in Swan Quarter
that has a good section on local families. I found the whole line of McKinney's ( my
great grandmother was a McKinney )at that little library. That was a great research day! I
will let you know if I find anything.
And if you run across the parent of Thomas Cahoon 1810 Hyde County or anything on a Elisha
Cahoon born 1700"s I would appreciate it too!
